Aave Opens iOS Early Access, Android and Web Still Waitlisted

Aave started onboarding early users to its mobile app on iOS on Wednesday, moving its consumer savings product into early access while Android and web users remain on a waitlist, according to The Defiant.

Aave founder Stani Kulechov said the platform is using Ghost Passes, which let existing users invite friends to bypass the waitlist. The Defiant noted the onboarding announcement was not the app’s first appearance on Apple’s App Store, where a listing and a recent version update were already visible before Wednesday’s rollout.

According to the outlet, Aave’s current product page describes the mobile app as a savings tool focused on depositing, earning and withdrawing funds. Users can link bank accounts and debit cards, and the app’s stablecoin wallet supports deposits and withdrawals on the Arbitrum network. Deposited funds earn yield through Aave’s open lending markets, where assets are supplied to lending pools and interest paid by borrowers flows back to depositors.

The Defiant reported that the app’s current product page does not advertise direct borrowing or a user-directed trading feature. In July, Aave Labs had described card fees, asset swaps and foreign-exchange products as features expected to roll out during 2026, cautioning at the time that the swap and FX capabilities had not yet been built or cleared for launch.

The app’s Stable Vaults support multiple stablecoins and allow one-to-one redemption swaps between commonly denominated stablecoins, which The Defiant characterized as part of the savings infrastructure rather than a general-purpose trading feature.

Aave describes the app as self-custodial despite its fintech-style login and recovery features, with terms stating that its embedded wallet generates and stores private keys, per The Defiant.
